"Growing Through Living God's Word"
Tera was born and raised in Elgin, IL. After graduating from high school, she choose to attend Concordia University Wisconsin where in 2009 she received her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. Faith Preschool is Tera's first school where she has served as a teacher. Tera is currently working on her Master's degree.
Besides teaching Tera plays the organ for the church. She also directs the Handbell and Children's choirs at Faith. Tera enjoys spending time outside, reading, and playing the piano. Tera and her husband are members of Faith.
Tera's philosophy: "I believe, as a teacher, in allowing children the chance to know God and to instruct and encourage children in a whole-person way that includes academic, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects to further develop into whom God has created them to be. They are children of God and are precious to Him!"
As an educator, I am constantly evaluating who I am, how I am doing, and how best I can reach the children. My first and foremost goal is to create an environment that is Christ centered, where students are learning about Jesus, as well as learning how to let their light shine for Him. I look for ways to instruct and encourage children to become the individuals whom God has created them to be. I also want students to learn that they are children of God and are precious to Him!
My goal is to run a classroom with a Developmentally Appropriate mindset, where it is important to help each student at an appropriate level in order to reach his or her fullest capabilities. I will use constructivism to help foster independence, mystery, and curiosity for the students. Because all students are unique, I believe in creating an environment that reaches all learners. I want to constantly reevaluate what is working, what is not working, and how I can better myself to help the children continue to succeed.
The utmost goal for me is to become a Master teacher in the grip of my Heavenly Father. With His help, I know that I can be a disciple to His children and help them grow as lights for His Gospel.
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the Kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19:14
